Teachers Have It Easy

I just read on msn.com that in Texas 24% of new-hire teachers come from alternative certification programs. Has anybody stopped to consider that might be part of the problem? There's a reason why some of us actually get trained in college to be a teacher, assholes. It's called EDUCATION. Heard of it?

Today I started reading a new book tonight (clearly me and the other books are on a break). It's called:
Teachers Have It Easy (The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers) by Moulthrop, Calegari, and Eggers.

Even worse, the headline on the Houston Chronicle today reports that Gov. Perry approved 10 million dollars in teacher merit raises. No good can come of this...and who wants to bet me NO money will go towards Special Ed. After all, we can only reward high test scores, NOT making progress, trying your hardest, doing your best work. Ooooh, it makes me so mad!
