Where The Wild Things Are

I'm a special ed. teacher for 3-5 year-olds with disabilities. I think (too much), therefore I am (nutty). I need an outlet to express my frustrations about teaching and all the administrative bullshit that accompanies the profession. I need someone to HEAR MY PAIN, dammit (the "Oh, you must be SO PATIENT" and the "God Bless You" comments just don't cut it). Ha...I'm NEVER melodramatic. Or sarcastic. Ever.
My Top 5 Favorite Young Children's Books:
1. Where The Wild Things Are...Maurice Sendak (thus, my blog title)
2. No, David...David Shannon
3. Olivia...Ian Falconer
4. The Very Grouchy Ladybug...Eric Carle
5. Go Away, Big Green Monster...Ed Emberley
Note the trend...I like books about naughty children, bugs, and the monster book's just plain fun (cuz I get to yell a little bit).Besides teaching, I'm in graduate school, I have a 10-year-old son, I have a social life, and sex really does get even better after 30. What do have to complain about? Well, gimme a sec...
OK, ready:Why do men my age want to date women 10 years younger and then state that they can't get serious with them because they're too young?
Man-my-age: "I'd date you if you were older"
22-year-old: "But I'm different"
Me: "Uh, hello? I'M older!"
Man-my-age: (clears throat and then pulls out 1 of 3 already-heard-unoriginal- excuses)
Too bitter? OK:
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy do people use words like irregardless and supposively. Memo to you: If you don't hear anyone else using the word, check the dictionary to make sure it's a real word, please. Please.

OK, to be fair...my son's dad has a 22-year-old girlfriend and I really like her. A lot. So I'm not hating on the younger women. I like ALL my sisters. And truth be told, I wouldn't seriously date most of my men-my-age friends I know, anyway. I love 'em but no thank you. Although that's not to say I don't think there aren't plenty of great men-my-age around. So there. I just get a little frustrated sometimes...but I feel better now(-:
irregardless is one of my favorites!
